In detail
Direct account payments. According to the Cámara Colombiana de Comercio Electrónico, account debits made up 46.5% of online transactions and 57.2% of their value in 2025. Most of them go through PSE, the payment button of ACH Colombia that redirects the shopper to their bank or wallet. PSE alone handled 236 million transactions in the first quarter of 2026.
The rest of the Colombian checkout
- Credit cards, 39.8% of online transactions, usually split into monthly cuotas chosen at checkout.
- Wallets such as Nequi and Daviplata, frequent but small payments.
- Cash at networks such as Efecty, for shoppers without cards.
- Bre-B, the instant payment system launched in October 2025, now growing fast.
- Local BNPL such as Addi for shoppers without credit cards.
What it means for payment operators
A Colombian checkout needs PSE, cards with cuotas and wallets at a minimum, with Bre-B readiness coming next. Most of these methods come through local gateways and acquirers, so operators serving merchants in Colombia need several local connections, settlement in Colombian pesos and a way to switch methods on merchant by merchant.
