In detail
DuitNow QR is Malaysia's national QR payment standard, run by PayNet, the national payment network. A merchant displays one code, and every participating bank and e-wallet app can scan it. Payments settle instantly over the same rails as DuitNow Transfer.
Scale
DuitNow QR processed 3 billion transactions in 2025, double the 2024 volume, according to Bank Negara Malaysia. PayNet added 681,250 QR acceptance points in the year, and almost three million QR touchpoints now link banks and e-wallets at the counter. Most e-wallets, including Touch 'n Go eWallet, work on the shared network.
Across borders
Cross-border QR transactions grew 2.5 times to 29.7 million in 2025. DuitNow QR is linked with Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Cambodia, so travelers can pay Malaysian merchants with their home apps, and Malaysians can pay abroad.
What it means for payment operators
For operators serving Malaysian merchants, DuitNow QR is the common acceptance method in stores and for small sellers. A local provider that generates dynamic codes per order and confirms payments automatically keeps reconciliation simple. Adding it next to cards, FPX or DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets and e-wallets completes the Malaysian checkout.
