Does NORBr Onboard replace the operator's risk policy?
No. NORBr Onboard does not make the underwriting decision. The operator's team keeps its risk policy and sets a risk level per merchant, and each payment partner keeps its own requirements and decides on its own track. The platform gives all of them the same file to read at the same time.
In detail
No. NORBr Onboard does not make the underwriting decision. The operator's team keeps its risk policy and sets a risk level per merchant, and each payment partner keeps its own requirements and decides on its own track. The platform gives all of them the same file to read at the same time.
Tooling, not judgment
NORBr Onboard collects the application, extracts data from documents, checks expiry dates, routes the file to partners and logs every action. It does not decide whether a merchant is accepted. That decision belongs to the operator's team, under its own risk policy, and to each acquiring partner on its own track.
What the operator keeps
- Its risk policy and the risk level assigned to each merchant.
- The list of documents required per merchant type and market.
- The choice of which partners receive which applications.
- The final decision and its justification, recorded with author and timestamp.
What partners keep
Their own requirements, their underwriting and their right to refuse. The platform gives everyone the same file at the same time, with the same audit trail. The benefit is speed and traceability, not a transfer of responsibility. When a regulator or an acquirer asks why a merchant was approved, the operator can show who reviewed what, when, and on which version of the file, which is harder to do from a mailbox.
