Does NORBr act as the merchant of record?

Short answer

No. Market reach comes through the acquirers and local providers certified in the network, and the commercial relationship with each merchant stays yours. You choose which providers your merchants run on, market by market, and the infrastructure carries the flows across them.

In detail

No. NORBr does not take the merchant-of-record role and does not sell to your merchants. It is white-label infrastructure: it connects and routes the payment providers you activate, and funds never sit with NORBr.

Market reach comes from the acquirers and local providers certified in the network. You choose which of them your merchants run on, market by market, and the infrastructure carries the flows across them. The commercial relationship with each merchant, the contract it signs and the brand it sees all stay with you.

How the roles divide

  • Your merchants sell to their customers and remain the merchants of record for their sales.
  • The acquirers and payment providers you activate process and settle the funds under their own licenses.
  • You run the platform under your brand, set pricing and own the merchant relationship.
  • NORBr runs the infrastructure underneath and stays out of sight.

This matters when you open new markets. Rather than adding a merchant-of-record intermediary between you and your merchants, you activate local providers and their payment methods through contracts on the platform. Your merchants keep their own accounts, and you keep control over which providers carry their volume, without handing the relationship to a third party.
