Does an operator need a separate contract with Ecommpay?

Short answer

Yes. NORBr provides the connection, the routing and the data, while the commercial terms of the acquiring relationship are agreed between the operator, or its merchant, and Ecommpay. Once the acquiring account is live, activation in the NORBr Console requires no development.

In detail

Yes. NORBr provides the connection, the routing and the data, while the commercial terms of the acquiring relationship are agreed between the operator, or its merchant, and Ecommpay. Once the acquiring account is live, activation in the NORBr Console requires no development.

Connection and contract are separate

NORBr integrates Ecommpay in the global payment network: API mapping, decline codes, settlement files, fallback behavior. The acquiring relationship itself, pricing, settlement terms, merchant categories accepted, is agreed between the operator, or its merchant, and Ecommpay. NORBr is not party to that agreement and does not hold funds.

The steps

  • The operator signs with Ecommpay and completes its onboarding and compliance review.
  • Ecommpay delivers the acquiring account and credentials.
  • The operator enters the credentials in the NORBr Console and activates Ecommpay's methods per merchant.
  • Routing rules decide which transactions go to Ecommpay.

Why this split

The operator keeps control of its commercial terms with each provider, and can negotiate on its own volume. NORBr stays independent from the providers it connects, which lets it connect any of them. For the operator, the timeline is driven by Ecommpay's onboarding, usually a few weeks, while the activation on the platform takes a day. Operators that already have an Ecommpay account can activate it immediately.
