Can we ask different questions before and after qualifying a merchant?
Yes. Prequalification is a short form, a few questions, enough to decide whether the conversation continues. The full KYB follows once you choose to go further. Programs that sign merchants they already know turn prequalification off in settings.
In detail
Yes. Onboarding can run in two stages, each with its own form.
Prequalification
A short form, a few questions, enough to decide whether the conversation continues. It filters out profiles you would not take on before anyone spends time on a full file, and it gives your team the context to choose the right application form for the merchant.
Full KYB application
Once you choose to go further, the merchant receives the full KYB application that matches its profile. It covers the information your payment partners require, and can go deeper on ownership, licensing and processing history for higher-risk activities. The merchant does not answer again what it already provided.
Programs that sign merchants they already know, for example through an existing commercial relationship, can turn prequalification off in settings and go straight to the application.
The two stages are built with the same tools: questions from the shared library, rules that make a question mandatory or show it only when it applies, and a live preview of what the merchant will see. That keeps the experience consistent for the merchant and the data structured for your reviewers, whichever path a program follows.
