Can online and in-store payments be reconciled with the same logic?
Yes. Matcher™ shares the same transaction records as routing, checkout and online reconciliation, so e-commerce and physical store accounts are matched with one logic. Reconciled store payments then flow into reconciliation and settlement with the rest of the merchant's activity, and finance teams read one view across stores and channels.
In detail
Yes. Matcher™ shares the same transaction records as routing, checkout and online reconciliation, so e-commerce and physical store accounts are matched with one logic. Reconciled store payments then flow into reconciliation and settlement with the rest of the merchant's activity, and finance teams read one view across stores and channels.
One transaction model
On NORBr, routing, checkout, online reconciliation and in-store matching share the same transaction records. A payment is a payment, whether it came from a hosted checkout or a terminal; it has an amount, a provider, a status, a settlement line and, for stores, a receipt. Matcher™ applies the same matching logic to both, with store-specific keys such as terminal and receipt number.
What this means for finance
- One view per merchant across e-commerce and physical stores.
- One reconciliation and settlement process, with store payments flowing into it like online ones.
- One set of exceptions, reviewed by the same team with the same tools.
Why it matters
Retailers that run both channels usually reconcile them in two systems with two teams, and the gaps between the two are where errors hide. A single logic removes the handoff. It also enables cross-channel features that depend on matching: refunding an online order in store, or recognizing a customer at the terminal. For operators, offering both channels on one platform is a reason for a retailer to consolidate its payments with them.
