Can a subscription offer change while past charges stay untouched?

Short answer

Yes. An Offer holds the billing terms: first payment, recurring amount, currency, billing frequency, first rebill, discount, termination and pause rules, and the Retry policy to apply. Every subscription created from it follows those terms. When your merchants edit the Offer, every attached subscription follows from its next billing, while past payments stay as they were recorded.

In detail

Yes. An Offer holds the billing terms, and every subscription created from it follows those terms. When your merchants edit the Offer, every attached subscription follows from its next billing, while past payments stay as they were recorded.

What an Offer holds

  • The first payment and the recurring amount.
  • The currency and the billing frequency.
  • The first rebill.
  • Any discount.
  • Termination and pause rules.
  • The Retry policy to apply when a charge fails.

Why past charges stay untouched

Payments already made are records of what happened, and changing them would break reconciliation, reporting and the audit trail. Applying changes from the next billing keeps the history intact while letting the commercial terms evolve.

What this enables

Your merchants can adjust a price, change a billing frequency or switch the Retry policy for a whole set of subscriptions in one action, without migrating customers one by one. A new Offer can also be created when existing subscribers should keep their current terms.

For you as an operator, subscriptions run on the same platform as one-time payments, with the same routing, fallback, tokenization and reporting. Your merchants manage their Offers in your branded interface, and your team does not maintain a separate billing system.
